We had a fruit fly infestation recently, and decided to buy these. They’re definitely not the solution to a full fly problem, but as a casual trap it’s great. We Still had to deep clean moist areas, draini sinks, throw away fruit etc.. We bought 3 and got around ~35 fruit flies Total. Not enough to kill them all, but very good for flies that hide or if theres only a few. I was surprised to find putting it next to the sink yielded great results, 16 flies on the pad. REMEMBER; It’s VERY important for the lights to be off, otherwise the fruit flies won’t land on it.

I had a bad fruit fly problem involving my house plants. I tried the scented pheromone traps, they did not work, but I did not want to use insecticide so I tried this product and it works perfectly.
The sticky pad says it is good for a month but honestly, I have to change it 2 1/2 three weeks because it gets so full. You can see the pictures how many flies it captured.
Just bought a second one for different area. Definitely recommend this product if you have fruit flies or mosquitoes.
Great packaging. It gives you two pads on your initial purchase, but I definitely recommend buying a three or six pack..

So I’ve always had to deal with these little insects flying all around my house and it felt like no matter how many I killed, more would reappear. I ended up finding this as a solution and it was able to accumulate over a hundred in a week. Although it didn’t completely fix the problem (I guess some just aren’t attracted to light even though I’m sure it’s the same bug?) I was able to go from noticing multiple bugs flying in my face every day to maybe once or twice a week. Definitely worth the investment and has made my life so much less irritating.

I really like this easy to use bug catcher. No smell and no fuss. Mosquito and flies are always a problem in Texas. My husband hates jumping up all the time to whack them. No longer. I have two and they work well.

I was skeptical, but I’d received a peace lily as a memorial gift. I repotted it and put it in the guest bathroom. A few weeks later there was hundreds of teeny tiny gnats all over the bathroom. I really didn’t want to use a spray pesticide and I saw this and decided to give it a go. It was absolutely full of dead gnats a few days later. I also treated the soil of my plant and I eventually got rid of all of those pesky little gnats with the help of this wonderful item. I bought another one for my kitchen, along with a pack of refills. I’ve also recommended this item to anyone having fruit fly issues. It also catches flies and ants too!

I am very satisfied with this product. It works, but if you’re looking for a fast solution, this is not it. I’ve had it for a few weeks, it is still catching the fruit flies. I can’t complain, since the glue card is full. I have 2, one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. It’s the kitchen one that fills up, the bathroom one takes longer. I like the design of the unit, it’s modern and fits in to decor. Also, it’s handy that the unit can be swiveled around from the plug, so it can fit literally anywhere, even if upside down. I bought more glue cards, the generic is totally doable. Overall, great, effective purchase and I’m looking forward to being completely fruit fly free very soon.

The Safer Home SH502 Indoor Plug-In Fly Trap isn’t just an insect trap; it’s your new best friend in the never-ending battle against airborne invaders. This device is like a high-tech Venus flytrap, minus the plant and plus a plug.
Let’s start with its effectiveness. This little gadget is to flies what a siren was to ancient sailors – irresistibly alluring but with a much less tragic ending. Flies, fruit flies, moths, gnats, and their pesky peers find themselves drawn to it, only to discover that it’s a one-way ticket.
The design is as unobtrusive as a fly trap can be. Plug it into any outlet, and it blends into your home décor with the ease of a chameleon. It’s discreet, yet diligent – always on guard, ensuring your living space remains a no-fly zone.
And there’s something satisfying about knowing it’s working without any zapping or buzzing. It’s like having a silent, efficient butler who takes care of unwanted guests without any fuss or muss.
But remember, even the best butlers need support. The SH502 does require occasional maintenance – cleaning out the trapped insects and ensuring it stays effective. It’s a small price to pay for reclaiming your airspace from the winged usurpers.
TL;DR: The Safer Home SH502 is a silent sentinel in your fight against flying insects. It’s perfect for those who prefer their fly-trapping with a side of subtlety and efficiency. Just give it a plug, and watch your fly troubles become a thing of the past.

I really like this especially over the summer when there are more insects around. I had a problem with gnats but the next day I could noticeably see that there were less. It’s great because you just plug it in a power socket and let it do the rest. It definitely traps gnat and has also caught several big flies.

These flying insect traps are very well designed, effective, and work exceptionally well. No unnecessary features, just good form and function in a small unit that actually looks nice and doesn’t take up much space. They are also silent, unlike the ones that use fans to pull bugs in. These simply use UV light to attract insects and a (very) sticky glue board to trap them. Operation is simple; just insert a glue board into the trap and plug in. After just one night of use I found quite a few gnats caught in the trap I placed in the downstairs entry hall that is near the garage door, which is our primary entry point to the house. I was surprised by the results and that it works that well. I also placed one in our third floor hallway where the bedrooms are because we had seen a couple gnats (or something) flying around in our master bathroom a couple days earlier. After the first night I did not see anything that trap, but the next morning I found a couple trapped, so they are definitely working. We don’t have a huge problem with flying insects, but the few that manage to get in now and then can be annoying; these traps really help and I may buy a couple more as they seem to work even better than the Catchy ones that we’ve had for several years.
A few points to note. These traps do not have any type of ON/OFF button or switch, which is a wonderful thing IMO. I bought a similar product from a different brand that did and every time the power went out, even for the slightest amount of time, I’d have to go around and press the button to turn each trap back on. Seriously, why?? Safer Home got this right! Traps stay on whenever there is power. Also, the UV LEDs on these produce a very bright point of light that is visible over a long distance, which is likely why they are so effective. However, the design is such that the light is projected horizontally along the wall and not upward or out into the room. That said, they really don’t light up a room that much. Even in our very small hallway downstairs, there is only a dim purple-ish glow, so unless you are someone who wants the room pitch black when sleeping, you probably could use these in a bedroom. And lastly, most might not notice this, but the two sets of UV LEDs (top and bottom) produce a slightly different wavelength of light, which likely also adds to their effectiveness. I don’t think this is mentioned anywhere in the product details, but I can tell because my glasses filter UV light and they filter it out more at the higher wavelengths.
All things considered, this is an exceptional product and I highly recommend it.

After reading all the great reviews and watching videos, I ordered this bug trap plus extra 3 sticky plates.
I am sorry to say that after 3 full days and nights of using the product as instructed in a high bug zone, it did not catch a single bug–of any type. My homemade gnat trap works way better and I was looking for improvement over that. In fact, sitting next to this plugged in product, mine caught about 100 gnats over the same period of time. The only thing this item is good for is for use as a very expensive night light.
Since I probably can’t send the unit back (I threw away the box), I hope I can at least send the extra cards back when they finally arrive.
Oh, and in case you’re interested, my trap involved pouring about 2 oz. of red wine (white doesn’t work, nor does beer) into a small wine glass. Insert a short straw with a yellow dual sided bug paper cut to about 3 x 4 ” stuck to it. Change out the wine every 3 days and the sticky bug paper when it is as fully coated on both sides to prevent new bugs from getting caught.
—-3 WEEKS LATER—–
I’ve upgraded my rating because after a week in the same location next to the homemade trap where nothing was caught, I moved the Safer Home to a different location and left the homemade where it was. The two traps must have been competing with each other and the bugs found the homemade one more attractive. A few days after the move, I began to get a few bugs on the Safer Home. What was impressive were the pinpoint sized gnats it caught.
For comparison, the first photo shows the Safer Home after the relocation and 3 weeks total use. The bubbles are the extra sticky left behind when I tried to improve upon the trap by adding a yellow sticky bug square when it wasn’t catching anything. It still didn’t work so I removed the yellow sticky, and relocated the Safer Home. At the same time, I “reset” my homemade trap by using the same yellow sticky I removed from the Safer Home and replacing the glass with a new splash of wine. Photos were taken 1 week after the homemade trap reset and Safer Home move. (As you can see, it’s time to replace the wineglass and wine again.)
So, my takeaway is that the Safer Home is still a good nightlight and when separated from the homemade trap, they both work. The homemade is messier but still more effective, however, it seems I’m catching more bugs than before using both traps in their separate locations.
