I have heard many pets becoming sick with this product. I’m on my 4th round and no concerns. Kitty is well and hasn’t had any troubles. I buy this for my little dog as well and again no issues. I no the concerns other reviewers are stating, but I just haven’t had anything worth noting. I like these collars so much I’m worried about trying something else. I just don’t want to go to something else and end up seeing fleas all through my house and on my babies.
I have a large 50lb dog that wears a dog one and a smaller 15lb dog and kitty that wears cat collars. The only thing I do outside the directions is open the package and set the collars on a shelve to air out for about a week then I put them on. I check my fur babies everyday for a week around the collar and nothing they are perfectly fine. If you have major issue, it’s worth giving these a try. They do work very well for me but every house, yard, pet and owner is different.

This flea collar last just about 3-4 months. I am on my third. It’s been working. It’s keeps the fleas off the dog without the need to spray or add oil drops behind/on their spine. I will be adding this to my quarterly subscription. I just wished it wasn’t so expensive.

I have a german shepherd/ black lab mix (possible aussie or blue tick hound) who is about 70 pounds and 8 years old.

When i was a kid my pets got fleas really bad and mom tried everything. And i mean everything. To avoid the expensive veterinarian care. She ended up buyung these and in the long run spending more than the vet bill wouldve been in total costs with all the treatments we tried, but less instantly with buying these alone. Turned around our pets conditions in less than a week (2 cats less than a year old but fully grown, a pitbull mix ~ 1 year old, a pom mix 3 to 5 years old).

So i continued buying these for my pups for the last 6 years. One has passed recently due to other complications, a pomeranian mix about 9 to 11 years old (same one as at my moms house).

None of the pets ive seen with these have had any reaction. I will say my larger dog has dry skin problems but she had that before i used these collars and before i met her. These collars dont make it worse.

Super simple, one complaint. It advertises reflective attachments. Yeah theyre not so great. Break easy and are hidden in fur so it doesnt work. They also became a tangle spot on my pom. But the collars work very well and are worth the money on their own.

My large dog is still flea and tick free with a year old collar, but its winter now. I can honestly say they are effective for 6 months to a year.

A word to the wise: follow all warnings and instructions. Clip the collar to the length of your dog’s neck plus about an inch or two, cinch it down in the rings on the collar and remove the collar before baths. Keep your dog from chewing the collar and licking you after putting it on. Wash your hands.

If your dog develops a reaction based on an allergy include that in the review, because not every dog has an allergy. If your dog ate the collar or chewed on it include that too bc its different if its just a normal wearing collar situation that causes something and if a dog eats something theyre not supposed to. I wonder how many bad reviews are based on this? Seresto however should include a warning label for allergens if there isnt one already.

The collar becomes a dark grey and a hard plastic when its expired. Fresh out of the pack its soft and light grey with a white powder coating. We tried cheaper collars, they dont work to kill established fleas and they dont prevent ticks or flea eggs. Theyre little more than citronella bug spray in effectiveness.

Seresto collars have the added benefit (im guessing they cant advertise bc its not been scientifically tested) of repelling any blood sucking pests. Ive not noticed any mosquitoes on my dog and we moved to an area last summer where they have mosquito trucks bc the mosquitos are that bad (they didnt have the trucks in tennessee, do in illinois). Cheaper collars dont do that.

Seresto collars all the way for us! Will update on the off chance my dog develops a reaction.

I live in an extremely rural area in the south and during the spring and summer it gets very hot and very buggy here. For the past couple of seasons, we have had a really bad flea problem. The ticks haven’t been as bad as I have seen them but the fleas have been awful. I currently have two dogs and two cats. My dogs, both rescues, are very large dogs. One is a 90lb German Shepherd Dog and the other is a 160 lb Golden Retriever/Leonberger mix. My German Shepherd Dog has a severe flea allergy and has been struggling with hair loss and extremely itchy skin because of the high flea population we’ve had the past couple of years triggering his allergies. I tried everything: natural flea killing remedies for inside the house and treating my lawn to help minimize the chance of one of the little buggers hitching a ride on him when he goes outside. I have him on just about every flea pill I can think of from my vet. Comfortis did OK during the winter and late fall/early spring. Once the season got into high gear, it didn’t seem to make much of a dent into the fleas. Same with Trifexis. Frontline worked about as well as the others. Between flea and heartworm meds, I was spending $100 a month of preventative care for just my two dogs. Having used Advantage about 10 years or so back on another dog I had at the time when we had another serious flea year I thought I’d give it a try again.

I had read about the Seresto collar and how it would take care of fleas and ticks for 8 months and since Advantage had worked for me in the past I thought it was definitely something I should be looking into. I couldn’t buy it at my local vet as they don’t carry it so I turned to amazon. I read through the reviews and liked what I was seeing. I ordered one of the collars and impatiently awaited its arrival.

As soon as the mail carrier put it in the box I was on it and put it on my German Shepherd Dog since he is most severely affected by the fleas. Because of his size, I didn’t even bother trimming the end of the collar. One of the reviews mentioned about a 10 day period for the collar to really start to work but my experience with it is a little different. I started seeing dead fleas later the same day I put the collar on the dog. The flea problem had gotten so bad in the house that I was ready to call an exterminator to try and eliminate them. Every living thing in the house was scratching thanks to the fleas. Within about a week of putting the collar on just one dog, all of that stopped. I still see a flea from time to time but that is usually after we come back inside after a walk or playing. There are no more fleas in the house. Even places the dogs and cats don’t go, the fleas are gone. I had planned on buying another collar for my 160lb dog but with the way this one has worked, I don’t really think that will be necessary. My German Shepherd Dog is getting his hair back slowly and he’s not scratching all the time. He’s sleeping better–everyone is sleeping better.

I know with the economy being what it is right now, I understand completely that $50 for a flea and tick collar may seem like a lot to spend at one time (that is one of the reasons my local vet doesn’t carry it because a lot of their customers can’t afford it) but it is very well worth it if you have a flea and/or tick problem. My $100 a month preventative bills went down to $30 after purchasing this collar. This works out to around $6.25 a month for the best flea and tick protection I’ve ever found. There aren’t any pills to con the pets into eating (no more fixing peanut butter sandwiches to get the pills eaten!) or no messy topicals to apply.

I am absolutely sold on this flea collar and will not ever use another brand of flea and tick preventative again. This is the only solution for me. All of the positive reviews on this site for this collar, believe them. The praises they are singing are absolutely spot on.

Edit, 4th September, 2014: I wanted to come back in and update my review since it’s been a couple of months since I purchased this collar and put it on my dog.

The collar has worked beautifully! It is still killing fleas and ticks like it promises, my dog has not had any allergic reactions to it (something I worried about as another reviewer commented their dog did react) and my home and surrounding area is completely flea-free. I wasn’t expecting this one collar to kill all the fleas in the house with four animals running around in here, but it has. My GSD has almost all of his hair back and I can tell a huge difference in his personality. He’s more playful and happy all the time like he used to be before he had his awful allergic reaction to a flea bite. The only chewing or scratching he does now is where his skin itches from the new growth, and that scratching/chewing is decreasing steadily. I haven’t seen a single flea in well over a month and I don’t even worry about picking up any buggy hitchhikers when we go for walks anymore as I know the collar will take care of them. My biggest worry now is my GSD playing in the poison ivy. 🙂

    5. Amazon Customer

This collar is PERFECT. Okay so I was really really super skeptical about buying this for several reasons:
      – I hate the thought of my two pups having to constantly wear an extra collar
      – I’ve tried the flea/tick collars from Walmart and they were greasy and had a weird smell but even worse, they did NOT work.
      – I’ve read some of the horrifying reviews
      – I’m just a skeptical person and simply didn’t think this would work.

      BUT IM A BELIEVER NOW.
For context, I have a 3yr old short haired ~45lbs pup (pitbull, lab, corgi mix) and and a 7yr old long haired ~30-35lbs pup (Lhasa Apso terrier mix). I live in Maryland where the weather is just always unpredictable. I feel like we have like 6 seasons instead of 4. We have woods in the back of our house which deer always like to frequent, along with a swamp/pond across the street. This spring and the start of this summer we had a monsoon season where afterwards, there was an annoying infestation of ticks (mostly Lone Star and Deer ticks). It was disgusting. I legitimately could not take my dogs out for a walk without finding at least 4 ticks on them afterwards and on me!!! And this is on top of treating my dogs with the monthly tick/flea topical oil treatment. That’s how bad it was, which is what prompted me to buy the Seresto collars. (I bought Large for both of them)
Once I did and placed them on my dogs, after maybe like 1-2 days, I have not found a single tick on them. I know that sounds so far fetched but I don’t know what else to say because it’s absolutely true. It does take about 1-2 days for the medication to get into the system (from experience and from *I think* what the package said) because I still did find a few ticks on them the next day. But after that, not a single tick! They’ve been wearing the collars for about 1.5 months now so I’m still keeping an eye on them (I plan on updating this review after 7-8 months to see if the claim of lasting 8 months is legitimate). Right now though, I am sooo happy.

Now I want to address some of the other reviews I saw. After I saw some of the pictures of rashes this collar left on some dogs, I was worried, especially cause my smaller one already has exist in skin issues. But both are doing perfectly well with no skin issues from the collar. I don’t want to be presumptuous and I may be totally wrong, but I’m thinking maybe the rashes the other dogs had were because they’re not used to wearing collars? So they just kept itching at it? Maybe? I say that because for me at least, my dogs are used to wearing their regular collars nearly 24/7 since they were babies. So when I added the Seresto collars, they were unphased. But then again I’m also aware that just like humans, each dog reacts differently. Luckily, My dogs have no rash problems from the collars.
As for some claiming that the collar doesn’t work.. I’m not sure what to say other than that they really truly work for my dogs, and I live in a heavily tick infested area. It really is like night and day in terms of how well this collar works at preventing tick bites. Especially with my long haired dog since ticks would easily hide in her fur.
The collar isn’t greasy nor does it have a strong emanating odor. BUT it’s still medicated so it still has a very slight residue to it but nothing that interferes with everyday life.

I’m sold and plan on continuing with this product from here on out. NO MORE GREASY NASTY SMELLY TOPICAL MONTHLY TICK GREASE!

      **Side note**
Make sure you read the packaging instructions carefully!! They mention a few things like about how the efficacy is shortened to something like 5 months for dogs who swim a lot, or how the collar is designed to unlatch if the dog pulls incase it gets stuck on something (which I thoroughly appreciate) so you CANNOT substitute this as a walking collar! The collar DOES unlatch if you hold onto it and your dog pulls (personal experience: guests came over, one jumps and I accidentally grabbed the Seresto collar and it unlatched). But you CAN reattach it!! So definitely take the time to read the package instructions.

Hope this helps! I really loveeeee this collar. THANK YOU SERESTO!!!

    6. The Best Flea Collar for Your Dog

The Seresto Flea Collar for dogs is simply the best but at a cost. It kills fleas, ticks and also destroys flea eggs before the fleas can hatch. This flea collar lasts for a long eight (8) months which makes the cost ~$7.50 per month. The other flea collars on the market selling for far less money are simply a joke. They don’t work or if they do work, will do so only on fleas and for maybe a month or less.

Don’t be fools by their much lower price, albeit tempting; however, you are simply throwing your money away. And in the same time period, at a frequency of one month, purchasing one of their collars would cost you $80.00 for the same eight-month period that the Seresto flea collar works.

The Seresto Flea Collar for dogs is the real thing. You can also buy this collar in a two-pack. It won’t save you money but will save you time so that when the initial collar comes to an end in its efficacy, you can so easily put on the second collar that you have saved back. It is then that you can easily purchase another two-pack. But remember to purchase it at this time or ASAP so you will have the next two waiting to be used. By the way, each collar are wrapped in its own package which protects them from drying out.

    7. NMMo

I love these flea and tick collars. They’re wonderful, they do a great job. My dogs have been wearing them for years and we have yet to have an issue with fleas and ticks. Even in areas we know there are ticks because we’re pulling them off the people.
I like how long they last, giving you some wiggle room on both ends of summer.
The only thing I don’t like is that there’s only small and large. I have a chunky dachshund that is right on the border and we have to get him a large and it’s a bit overkill.

    8. BigDog1918

Used in conjunction with oral flea meds, our twin Labs remain flea and tick free. Our dogs spend a lot of time playing / splashing in the water. We change collars every six months. Keep in mind these are expensive but they WORK! The twin pack is slightly lower cost.

    9. Brittany

I recently purchased the Seresto Large Dog Vet-Recommended Flea & Tick Treatment for my furry friend, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. As a responsible pet owner, ensuring the well-being of my dog is my top priority, and this product has proven to be highly effective in keeping fleas and ticks at bay.

First and foremost, what makes the Seresto Flea & Tick Treatment stand out is its long-lasting protection. Unlike other treatments that require monthly application, Seresto offers up to 8 months of continuous protection, which is incredibly convenient and cost-effective. I no longer have to worry about missing a monthly dose or forgetting to reapply the treatment.

The application process is straightforward and hassle-free. The collar design makes it easy to fit securely around my dog’s neck, ensuring that the active ingredients are evenly distributed for maximum effectiveness. It’s also adjustable, so it can accommodate different neck sizes without causing any discomfort.

Another aspect that impressed me is the odorless nature of this treatment. Unlike other flea and tick treatments that have a strong chemical smell, Seresto is completely odorless, making it pleasant for both my dog and me. I appreciate that my dog doesn’t have to endure any discomfort or unpleasant smells while wearing the collar.

Furthermore, I have noticed a significant decrease in flea and tick infestations since using Seresto. My dog spends a lot of time outdoors, and previously, I would constantly find ticks on him. However, after using this treatment, I rarely find any ticks, and fleas are virtually non-existent. It’s reassuring to know that my dog is protected from these pesky parasites, especially during the warmer months when they are most active.

Lastly, the Seresto Large Dog Vet-Recommended Flea & Tick Treatment is also water-resistant, which is a huge plus. My dog loves to swim, and I was initially concerned about the treatment’s effectiveness after water exposure. However, even after numerous water activities, the collar remains fully functional, ensuring continuous protection.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Seresto Large Dog Vet-Recommended Flea & Tick Treatment. Its long-lasting protection, easy application, odorless formula, and water-resistant properties make it a reliable and convenient choice for any dog owner. Say goodbye to fleas and ticks and hello to peace of mind with Seresto!

My family and I have ordered this for many years now for our dogs. Great 9 month product. Never any bugs on them.

But I will say, it claims to be non toxic if eaten. One young dog was fine. Another dog got her collar off. Even when it was inside a specialty collar to fit this collar. Both ate them while she while crated with several toys. This one dog got super sick. Foaming at the mouth and vomiting for days. 2 trips to the vet, fluids and phone calls to Soresto. The vet and Soresto were helpful but dumbfounded due to this. So be careful for the dogs that are big chewers and don’t like collars.
